The 'World Heritage and Youth Creativity' Global Vlog Event Kicks Off
2023-05-25 ICCSD

The cultural and natural heritage with long histories around the world are still related to our daily lives and provide inspiration. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) adopted the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, in which the terms of the cultural and natural heritage are defined, in Paris in 1972. The term "World Heritage" refers to the cultural and natural heritage around the world, which are considered to be of outstanding value to humanity. According to UNESCO's official website, the number of World Heritage sites has reached 1,154 by 2021.

Youths are guardians and custodians of those World Heritage sites, constituting the fundamental force for the sustainable development of World Heritage sites. We hope that the World Heritage can be vitalized through new thoughts and creative expressions of young people.

The year 2022 marks the 50th Anniversary of the adoption of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO. Against this background, UNESCO International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development (ICCSD) and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) jointly organize the "World Heritage and Youth Creativity" Global Vlog Event, inviting the young creators around the globe, professional and amateur, to share their stories with the World Heritage by means of vlogs. We warmly welcome global vloggers, World Heritage enthusiasts, international students, people who participate in learning activities regarding the Chinese culture, foreign enterprises in China, overseas Chinese-invested enterprises and other relevant organizations, and overseas Chinese communities to take part in this event and share stories of youths with the World Heritage sites, promoting communication on the World Heritage preservation. Let the World Heritage become a bond that brings global youth together and let world heritage become vivid through the lens of the young participants.
