On October 21, Mr. Gábor Soós, Secretary-General of the Hungarian National Commission for UNESCO, visited the International Centre for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO (ICCSD), accompanied by his wife. The two parties engaged in an in-depth exchange on the integration of culture and technology for sustainable development.

Meeting in progress
Executive Director of ICCSD Xiao Lan introduced their work and achievements in areas such as research, dissemination, capacity building, and international cooperation. Secretary-General Soós highly commended these efforts and emphasized that China and Hungary share similar philosophies in cultural heritage preservation and innovative development, indicating broad prospects for cooperation.
During the talks, Secretary-General Soós shared Hungary's practices in creative city development, particularly highlighting the "SOPHIA—Cradle Cities for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network" initiative, which he leads. The mission of SOPHIA is to guide the development of AI-enhanced Digital Twins that are not merely technical models but also function as "living knowledge fields"—participatory and symbolic ecosystems that integrate cultural meanings, historical depth, ecological rhythms, and social memory. He stressed that this approach transforms community-based traditional knowledge into key digital assets for sustainable development, ensuring that technological innovation is rooted in cultural identity and promotes deep integration across education, culture, and science. Additionally, he introduced innovative ideas on integrating water governance with artificial intelligence, demonstrating how a cultural perspective can offer new solutions to sustainable development challenges. Based on the consensus reached, both parties will pursue further collaboration in their future work to jointly advance innovative culture-technology integration practices.
