The Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) will welcome another tourist spot! The construction of "Mars Sci-Fi City" (火星科幻城) is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026. Located north of Universal Studios Beijing, west of Wanli (an international shopping and entertainment complex), and east of the under-construction Haichang Ocean Park, it is expected to begin trial operations in 2028 and officially open in 2029.
Backed by top-tier research resources from institutions such as Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "Mars Sci-Fi City" is not a traditional theme park, but a genuine "hard-tech, immersive sci-fi environment", covering a total planned area of 62 mu (about 4.13 hectares), with an above-ground floor area of 90,000 square meters and an underground area of 100,000 square meters.

Its tour experience revolves around a complete "Mars Base" narrative. Cutting-edge achievements in aerospace technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, and more are integrated into a storyline centered on "survival, exploration, and construction".
The project is specially designed around "narrative-driven entertainment, gamification mechanics, and experiential immersion": complex scientific principles are to be woven into adventurous puzzle plots, complemented by interactive elements such as AR treasure hunts and point-based challenges. Visitors can also try immersive activities such as simulated driving and ecological farming. Additionally, a sci-fi museum, zero-gravity simulation experiences, and an immersive floating dining space will be featured, making it both thrilling and intellectually enriching.
The emergence of Mars Sci-Fi City marks a new phase in the themed entertainment industry, shifting from a "story-driven" model reliant on cultural IPs to a "technology-driven" paradigm in which cutting-edge science and technology directly construct entire worlds. Rather than offering a speculative simulation of distant galaxies, the project draws on China's advances in aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other hard technologies to create an immersive, logically coherent, and highly autonomous vision of an "experiential future".
Here, technology is not merely a backdrop or decorative element; it is the core engine that drives narratives, defines rules, and shapes perception. In doing so, Mars Sci-Fi City achieves a fundamental leap—from a theme park designed to be observed to a new world designed to be entered.
