Located in Dazu District, Chongqing Municipality, the Dazu Rock Carvings are a series of Chinese religious sculptures and carvings which date back from between the 9th and 13th centuries. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it consists of dozens of protected sites containing some 50,000 statues, demonstrating the intricate sculptural art and culture of Buddhism and Taoism.

Now, an immersive experience space themed around the Dazu Rock Carvings has been set up at the scenic spot to make full use of modern digital cinema technology. The digital cinema adopts the latest digital restoration technology to carry out high-precision three-dimensional restoration of the cultural relics through various new digital techniques, such as remote sensing and aerial surveying, and mapping, and the use of computer graphics.

The new space applies the latest techniques in cultural relic protection to digital film production, so that visitors can gain a better understanding of the masterpieces and the depth and diversity of traditional Chinese culture.

Two specially created films explore the rich history of the Dazu Rock Carvings, which span more than a thousand years and feature dozens of exquisite grottoes. Visitors can immerse themselves in the dazzling digital imagery and admire the beauty of the sculptural masterpieces and the traditional aesthetics behind the Dazu Rock Carvings.
