The 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held in Beijing from August 31 to September 5. The International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO (ICCSD) participated in the 2022 CIFTIS Culture & Tourism Services Exhibition at the Shougang exhibition area.

CIFTIS is a national-level, international and comprehensive fair jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality. It has been successfully held for eight consecutive years (including the original China (Beijing) International Service Trade Fair), becoming the largest comprehensive fair of global trade in services and China's leading fair of trade in services. It is also a major exhibition platform for China to open up to the outside world. Since its inception, the fair has attracted 195 countries and regions, 495 overseas organizations and business associations. More than 1.7 million people have participated for business exchanges and cooperation.

The Culture & Tourism Services Exhibition, one of the nine thematic exhibitions of 2022 CIFTIS, kicked off in Hall 1 and Hall 2 of Shougang Park on September 1, with an exhibition area of 14,700 square meters. Two themed exhibition areas, namely "New Engine of Culture" and "New Life of Creativity", were set up, with 6 units and 30 topics, drawing nearly 500 enterprises offline. The event also included more than 60 interactive activities, such as cultural and art performances and intangible cultural heritage experiences.

During the event, the Seventh Colorful World - Cultural Exhibition of Countries Along the Belt and Road hosted by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality was presented in the Culture & Tourism Services Exhibition, inviting more than 30 embassies and institutions of countries along the Belt and Road stationed in China for exchange activities.

About ICCSD

ICCSD was set up in Beijing, approved at the 38th session of UNESCO General Assembly in November 2015. In 2017, with the approval of the State Council, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality signed the agreement with UNESCO. ICCSD becomes the world's first UNESCO Category 2 center with the theme of "Creativity and Sustainable Development". With the support of UNESCO and the theme of "Creativity and Sustainable Development", the Center conducts domestic and international research, training, communication, dissemination, demonstration and other work. The Center will bring together global sci-tech talents and their innovative teams, build a global renowned "Laboratory of Thoughts" with a focus on creativity and innovation, promote cultural exchanges, mutual learning and cooperation, disseminate and support Chinese enterprises, technology and culture.

ICCSD performs functions as the "Creative City Observer" and regularly publishes the "Creative City Observation", builds an index system of creativity and sustainable development, and analyzes the urban development of members of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) from four perspectives of sustainable development, namely economy, culture, ecology and society. It has now issued globally the initial economic index result — the bilingual version of "Creativity and Sustainable Development Report No. 1: Creative Economy and Urban Regeneration". Besides, the Center has participated in translating the UNESCO report "Culture and Public Policy for Sustainable Development" into a Chinese version, in order to support UNESCO's cultural promotion of the concept of sustainable development.

ICCSD attaches great importance to deepening international talent exchanges in creativity and sustainable development, and tries to form innovative and diversified cooperation modes with different stakeholders. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda, the Center has built the "Creativity 2030" brand with a package of projects and a series of activities, such as forums, salons, "Creativity Promotes Sustainable Development" Series Exhibition, "Creativity and Sustainable Development" training programs, and international seminars, which are aimed at discussing how to utilize different ways and forms to enhance sustainable development.

ICCSD has created bilingual websites, journals, newsletters, social media platforms and other communication channels through which it released seven bilingual special issues of "Creative 2030", and collected more than 120 social practice cases at home and abroad and over 70 expert opinions. ICCSD's official website and Weibo account have set up characteristic columns including "Creative Cases", "Expert Views", "Creative Cities", and "International Central Axis", which highlight creativity, culture and creative expression, and share different practices and experience. The Center vigorously promotes diversified development paths of culture and creativity, and helps stakeholders at all levels gain a better understanding of the relations among culture & creativity, sustainable development, human well-being and social cohesion.
